The Public Works and Properties Committee oversees the operations of the Operational Services Department.
Public Works
- Oversee the general operations and management of the Public Works & Utilities Department.
- Responsible for the five-year capital improvement plan for infrastructure located within the Village.
- Construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, gutters, storm sewers, retention ponds, stormwater drainage, and other public projects.
- Review and recommend updates, additions, and deletions to the Comprehensive Plan to the Village Plan Commission.
- Review and recommend to the Village Board all budgetary, revenue and expenditure proposals related to public works projects.
- Recycling and garbage collection.
- Collection of leaves and brush
- To promote and protect public health, safety, and welfare by monitoring and developing a program for the management and maintenance of environmental corridors to include greenways, detention basins, wetlands, and plant communities in public-owned natural areas, or dedicated property areas within Village boundaries.
Properties
- Maintenance of public facilities and properties owned by the Village.
- Review and recommend to the Village Board all budgetary, revenue, and expenditure proposals related to village facilities and properties.
- Maintenance of public parks, recreational trails, and facilities located within the parks.
- Review the criteria and recommendations provided by the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Committee in determining parkland dedication to the Village, approval by the Village Board.
- Assist in preparing the short-term and long-term capital plans for the parks and/or trail systems located within the Village.
Composition
The Public Works and Properties committee consists of five (5) members, of whom at least two (2) members shall be citizen members who are not village officials. The Village President appoints citizen members, who are subject to the confirmation of the Village Board for a term of a year. The Village Trustee(s) are appointed annually by the Village Board.
