Public Safety Committee

The Public Safety Committee is a recommending body to the Village Board to assist them in the performance of their statutory duties. The Committee reviews and make recommendations concerning the following, this is not an all-inclusive listing.

  • Police department budget, service priorities, and capital improvement projects.
  • Public safety service needs of the Village.
  • Ordinances affecting public safety.
  • Issues relating to traffic safety.
  • Reviews various Village licenses, permits, and the sale of alcohol, when required by ordinance.
  • Reviews police department staffing levels, workload, annual work plans, and long-range goals.

Composition

The Public Safety Committee consists of five (5) members, of whom at least two (2) members shall be citizen members who are not village officials. The Village President appoints citizen members, who are subject to the confirmation of the Village Board for a term of a year. The Village Trustee(s) are appointed annually by the Village Board.
